Teen Therapy

Are you a teen (or you have a teen) that is…

… struggling with social interactions?

… afraid of what other people think?

… feeling “left out”?

… so overwhelmed in anxiety that you really don’t want to go to school some days?

… struggling with the expectations to be a “high achiever”?

… completely unsure about your future?

… having a hard time speaking up for yourself?

Being a teenager is hard.  In fact, it is arguably one of the most difficult periods of life.  You’re not quite an adult, though you really wish you were and the social scene can be just… awkward and even nerve-racking.

It’s easy to feel out of place.

It’s easy to get nervous.

It’s easy to have this nagging feeling that you’re not quite good enough.

And it’s really hard to know what is “okay” and what’s not “okay”.

This is where teen therapy can help.

In my work with teens, I enjoy making therapy a place where they can have their own space to talk and get support.  I also like to give teens the space to express themselves in a variety of ways to help make sense of all these confusing emotions and feelings.  To do this, I use traditional forms of talk therapy along with things like:

  • Expressive arts, including drawing, coloring or painting.
  • Sand tray
  • Guided imagery
  • Mindfulness
  • Games
  • and more!

With teens who I can see could benefit, I also offer Brainspotting to help them overcome any fears, traumas or blocks that may be holding them back from healing and moving forward.

As a therapist, I am non-judgmental and accepting of where my clients are in the moment.  You’re in the drivers seat and I’m along for the ride, but just supporting you along the way.

I believe that everyone is capable of transformation.  I believe that everyone is capable of unraveling themselves from a state of fear, anxiety, shame, sadness, anger, guilt, and self-doubt to a state where they can feel joy and live their lives with greater confidence and ease.

I’m glad you’re here, and I want you to know that things can start getting better today.
